Kansas City Chiefs tight end and New Heights podcast co-host Travis Kelce has some no-nonsense dating advice for listeners, rooted in clarity, confidence and simplicity.
The 36-year-old football star, recently engaged to global pop icon Taylor Swift, joined brother Jason Kelce on a special hotline edition of their show to respond to a caller’s question about how to ask someone out.
According to People, Kelce told the caller the first step is figuring out what genuinely attracts you to the person, whether it’s their sense of humor, kindness, style or another quality, and then using that as a natural conversation starter.
Moreover, he encouraged a sincere compliment to “get you in the door” and suggested observing the response as a gauge of interest.
The Kansas City star stressed that preparation and confidence are key.
“You gotta own it,” he said, advising hopeful daters to have a clear plan for where they’d like the date to go, whether that’s a movie, a coffee or another shared activity.
As per the outlet, Jason echoed the sentiment, joking that the best advice is simply to ask directly and respectfully.
He also dismissed outdated pickup tactics, including one old-school tip from their father, calling them “bogus” and reinforcing that being straightforward often works best.
It is worth mentioning that Kelce and Swift’s own romance began somewhat unconventionally via podcast chatter in 2023 and turned into an engagement announced in August 2025.
