Cassandra Clare reveals first look of her new book

Cassandra Clare, the acclaimed author behind the globally popular Shadowhunter Chronicles, has shared an exclusive first look at The Last King of Faerie, the inaugural book in her final trilogy, The Wicked Powers. 

The novel is scheduled for release on November 3, 2026, and is already available for preorder.

Set years after earlier entries like Lady Midnight, this new instalment focuses on Drusilla “Dru” Blackthorn, now a student at the Shadowhunter Academy. 

What begins as a night out at a nightclub quickly spirals into danger when Dru is kidnapped by Faerie prince Ash Morgenstern, thrusting her into a perilous world where magic and menace intermingle.

According to People, the exclusive excerpt published by People reveals a tense nightclub scene full of familiar faces from the Shadowhunter universe, weaving together lighthearted moments with haunting encounters, including a ghostly visit from Dru’s sister, Livvy.

Meanwhile, Dru’s brother Ty Blackthorn and ally Kit Herondale grapple with a sudden crisis that could have far-reaching consequences for their world. 

As the stakes rise, the story promises the signature blend of romance, danger and emotional complexity that fans have come to expect from Clare’s work.
