Bella Hadid has bravely opened up about the heartbreaking toll her 14-year battle with chronic neurological Lyme disease has taken on her life.
The 29-year-old beauty admitted that the way she once worked was simply “not sustainable”.
Speaking candidly to Vogue Italia, she revealed that she pushed herself relentlessly, even through Covid, before realising something had to give.
“The way that I worked for many years was not sustainable,” she confessed.
“Being able to be in Texas with my horses and my dog, having a real life, and then going back to work makes it more fulfilling.”
The catwalk queen, who boasts a staggering 74 million followers, admitted she broke down in tears after being forced to turn down every job for almost a year while undergoing treatment.
“You feel disposable,” she said, recalling the emotional strain of stepping away from the spotlight.
Her devoted mum, Yolanda Hadid, shared a powerful hospital tribute last September, calling her daughter a “bada warrior” and praising her courage through “darkness, pain and the unknown hell” of the disease.
For those unfamiliar, Yolanda, who also battled Lyme disease, previously documented seeing 106 doctors in her memoir Believe Me.
Back in 2023, Bella told fans she was “finally healthy” and wouldn’t change a thing about her painful journey, insisting: “If you are struggling — it will get better. I promise.”
Despite recent snaps of her partying at the Chateau Marmont, the supermodel appears focused on balance.
She's splitting time between modelling and running her alcohol-free fragrance brand, Ôrəbella.
