Basketball world is lamenting the death of Kara Braxton, WNBA 2-Time Champion has passed away at the age of 43.
The news was confirmed by the Women National basketball association on February 22.
The WNBA penned, “It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of 2x WNBA Champion Kara Braxton.”
Oregon Live reported that she was involved in a fatal car accident in Atlanta over the weekend.
No cause of death has been revealed by the authorities that verified information about the circumstances.
Braxton has had 10 seasons in the league where she competed with Detroit Shock, Tulsa Shock, Phoenix Mercury and New York Liberty.
She was the star of the University of Georgia, having been the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2002, and an WNBA All-Star in 2007.
She became the White House visitor after winning the championship with Detroit in the year 2008.
Other than basketball, Braxton was a loving mother to two sons, one of whom was Jelani Thurman who assisted Ohio State University to win a football championship in 2024.
Plenette Pierson, her former teammate, wrote, This still feels unreal… Losing you hurts in a way words cannot hold,” his pride and joy, his boys.
She is survived by her husband, Jarvis Jackson, her sons and her twin sister, Kim.
