Paul Mescal left flustered after being called out at BAFTAs 2026

Paul Mescal had an embarrassing moment during the 2026 BAFTAs.

While the award show host Alan Cumming attempted to get his attention, Mescal completely messed up Cumming’s gag as he introduced the next award.

The Normal People star was busy using his phone all this time, leaving the star studded crowd in hysteria.

Standing at the podium, Cumming said, "The next award is for Outstanding British Film in honour of Alexander Korda."

"Paul, Paul, oh he is on his phone," he said as he tried to gain his attention.

The Gladiator actor suddenly looked up from the phone in complete shock and confusion before turning red and bringing his hand over his face in embarrassment and laughter.

Cumming laughed, adding, "You were supposed to do the gag, don't you worry."

While Hamnet was among the big winners of the night with Jessie Buckley winning the Best Actress in lead role, Mescal missed out on the top honour to Sean Penn from One Battle After Another.

Mescal also walked the red carpet hand-in-hand with his girlfriend Gracie Abrams, marking the first time for the couple to step out on a red carpet.

The couple have been in a relationship since 2024 but largely keep their relationship out of the spotlight.
