Gabourey Sidibe’s husband Brandon Frankel drops shocking health update

Gabourey Sidibe’s husband Brandon Frankel has bravely revealed he’s been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, but says speaking up may have saved his life.

Brandon, who tied the knot with the Precious star in 2021, shared the shock news on Instagram.

He told fans that he was diagnosed with Stage I Papillary Thyroid cancer after insisting on further tests.

“I refused to ‘wait and see’,” he wrote candidly. 

“I made a LOT of noise. It worked. Surgery went well. I’m okay for now.”

The dad-of-two, who shares adorable twins Cooper and Maya with Gabourey,  explained doctors initially didn’t believe he needed an ultrasound. 

But trusting his instincts, Brandon pushed ahead, chasing appointments and calling in favours to speed things up.

Thankfully, the cancer was caught early. 

However, pathology later revealed a more aggressive cell type, meaning he now faces careful monitoring in the months ahead.

In an emotional post, the internet personality admitted he knows how fortunate he is to have had access to top healthcare. 

“Early detection didn’t just save my life. Access and advocating for myself did,” he wrote, adding that not everyone has the same support or resources.

He also paid tribute to his wife, praising the American Horror Story actress for “holding everything down” while he underwent surgery and recovery.

Calling the healthcare system “broken”, he urged others: “Please advocate for yourself. Be proactive.”
