Steve Perry has also squashed rumours about a possible reunion with Journey when the band goes on its Final Frontier farewell tour.

Speaking to X, the previous frontman responded to rumours that he could return to the North American send-off.

The 77-year-old veteran crooner penned, “While I’m always grateful for the love people still have for Journey, the rumours about me rejoining the band are simply not true, and I want to gently put them to rest."

The singer recognised the hope of fans that there would be a reunion and he said, “I completely understand why people would hope for that. The music we created together means a great deal to me too."

However he clarified that his interest is in other areas, "But I’m continuing to explore new creative work and really enjoy working on new music that reflects where I am now,”

There has been more speculation when keyboardist Jonathan Cain announced in a recent interview that Perry was invited to take part in the farewell tour and had not yet vetoed.

The 58-year-old Filipino singer-songwriter Arnel Pineda, has been leading the band since its early days, is set to lead the band in what is being called the last run.

As Journey retrospectively examines its past, it seems that Perry is on a mission to build a new music -his way.
