Russell Crowe’s 'Beast' trailer reveals high-energy MMA drama

Russell Crowe has ignited early buzz for his upcoming film Beast with the release of its first official trailer, offering a glimpse at a gritty mixed martial arts saga that lands in theaters on April 10.

In the exclusive preview obtained by People, Crowe portrays Sammy, a seasoned coach who must guide Patton James (played by Daniel MacPherson), a former MMA champion struggling to reclaim his former glory, back into the ring to help protect his brother from danger. 

The trailer mixes high-octane fight action with emotional depth, underscoring themes of redemption, loyalty and personal sacrifice that drive the film’s narrative.

Co-written by Crowe and David Frigerio, and directed by Tyler Atkins, Beast assembles a diverse ensemble, including Luke Hemsworth, Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale and Amy Shark. 

According to the outlet, key sequences were filmed at a live ONE Championship event in Bangkok, Thailand, lending authenticity to the MMA spectacle depicted on screen.

Moreover, MacPherson, reflecting on his collaboration with Crowe, described the film as both an intense sports drama and a character-driven story that resonates beyond the fight world.
