Margot Robbie has made one thing crystal clear that she’s not here to impress the critics.
The 35-year-old Hollywood powerhouse says every film she signs on to is made with the audience firmly in mind.
Speaking to Vogue Australia, Margot revealed she has never once stood on set wondering what reviewers might say.
“I consider audience always,” she explained.
“I’ve never, ever been on set and thought, ‘What are the critics going to think of this?’ I’m like, ‘What’s an audience going to feel right now?’”
For the Barbie star, it’s simple that films are for the people who buy the tickets.
And that same philosophy is what she admires most about director Emerald Fennell, who is bringing Wuthering Heights back to the big screen.
The Suicide Squad alum, who stars opposite Jacob Elordi in the adaptation of Emily Brontë’s iconic novel, says the team were “set up for success” from the start.
With a powerful screenplay, breathtaking sets and costumes, and a director focused on emotional impact, she felt they had all the right ingredients.
“The chemistry between us as Cathy and Heathcliff… we were so set up for success,” she said.
While awards buzz may swirl, Margot’s focus remains firmly on one thing and that is making audiences gasp, cry and feel every moment.
