'Bride of the Sun' star Jung Eun-woo dead at 40

The South Korea entertainment industry is lamenting the death of actor Jung Eun-woo, who died on February 11 at the age of 40.

The cause of death has not been disclosed in consideration of the privacy of the grieving family of the star.

The memorial service is in progress at the New Goryeo Hospital, and the funeral procession will take place with burial at Byeokje Seunghawon at noon on the 13 february.

Jung left a short and mysterious Instagram post prior to a day of his death, saying, “Missed, envious, regrettable”, alongside the images of Leslie Cheung, Amy Winehouse and himself.

It is pertinent to mention that both Cheung and Winehouse were legendary artists who passed away during young age.

The post caused followers to view it as a potential goodbye from the Bride of the Sun actor.

Jung Eun Woo established his prolific career in television and film, featuring in some of the most renowned dramas, including H.I.T, One Well-Raised Daughter, and My Only One. 

His last screen time was in Memory (2021), which is the last book in his filmography.

Tributes have emerged via social media from colleagues and fans. 

The Korean fan community penned the news, “Our sincere condolences to the families of Jung Eun Woo. May he rest in peace.”
