Kevin James lauded Adam Sandler for turning the fate of his film Paul Bart around.
James plays the titular mall security guard in the 2009 action comedy film, where he must rise to the occasion and save hostages from a heist.
In an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, The Kings of Queens actor revealed that it was Sandler's support which brought success to the film.
He admitted that the first cut of the movie was "horrendous" and would mean the end of his career.
Playdate star recalled, "He saved me. He made my movie Mall Cop. I would never have gotten that made. He made it happen."
James said that he and his team was panicked and then Sandler stepped in telling them to "relax" and "He looked at it. He let areas breathe, and he just knew what to do with it. And he made the movie that was."
The movie turned out to became box office hit with gross $183,8 million worldwide and one of James' most recognizable roles and launched a franchise.
Its sequel was released in 2015, while he remains hopeful of part 3 happening soon.
The cast of Paul Blart: Mall Cop also included Jayma Mays, Bobby Cannavale, Keir O'Donnell, Adam Ferrara, and Raini Rodriguez.
