Tom Cruise has withdrawn his luxurious base at the Knightsbridge neighbourhood in London over mounting fears of security.

The 63-year-old reportedly abandoned his £35 million apartment, as per the Daily Mail.

It comes after a series of incidents that have brought into the limelight of the media regarding the weakened security within the region.

Allegedly, thieves committed an audacious robbery in broad daylight in a nearby watch store.

This sounded alarm bells to the film producer as a highlight of vulnerabilities around the high-profile residential complex.

It was indicated that the robbery was not a single trigger; the actor of Mission: Impossible observed a keen change in the mood of the locality.

The insider marked, "He often loved to take a walk around the area but it seems like Knightsbridge is becoming less safe by the week. He just felt the area has declined in the past year or two."

Moreover, Brand expert Marcel Knobil cautioned that the alleged exit by Cruise would tarnish the reputation of the area.

He noted, "I think that whatever statistics one wants to deliver, perceptions are what really matters."

Continuing, "Various locations within London have really suffered from a truly deteriorating perception."

"The likes of Knightsbridge is a location built on characteristics such as glamour, wealth and prestige, and so safety is very much expected and anticipated."

Knobil concluded that when security is doubted, with such a feeling, it may have a devastating impact on the image of a place.
