Gabrielle Union says her friendship with fellow Bring It On alum Kirsten Dunst continues to evolve, even more than 25 years after they first worked together on the iconic cheerleading comedy.
In an exclusive People interview, Union described how both women have grown closer through life’s major milestones, particularly motherhood, noting that the shared experience of raising children has strengthened their connection.
Union explained that when the two first met on the set of the 2000 hit film, Dunst was still a teenager.
“When we shot Bring It On, [Kirsten] was an actual child, and now she’s a mom,” Union said, adding with a smile that their conversations now revolve around parenting decisions, family and the lessons they carry forward from their own upbringings.
Moreover, the actresses remain close in part because their children are similar ages; Union’s daughter Kaavia is seven, while Dunst’s sons, Ennis and James, are also young.
As per the outlet, the pair reunited publicly at a 25th anniversary screening of Bring It On in Los Angeles last September, where they joined fellow cast members to celebrate the film’s enduring legacy.
As per the outlet, Union also spoke about her involvement in wellness advocacy, including efforts to destigmatize menopause, but emphasized that her longtime friendship with Dunst remains one of the most rewarding parts of her journey.
