Saturday Night Live’s cold open this week was different than usual as it did not begin with replaces James Austin Johnson’s Trump, but saw Pete Davidson as White House Border Czar Tom Homan discussing Minneapolis.
The comedian began by discussing the Border Patrol Officer Greg Bovino’s dismissal, discussing the killing of Alex Pretti and other questionable things he did that while he was being filmed and citing that as the reason for his removal.
Pete then asks the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers he has come to school to tell him why they were in Minneapolis, and to recall the mission objective.
One faux Ice agent answered, “Pass,” while another responded, “This could be wrong, but Army,” to which Homan responded that it was close but that they were there to detain and deport illegal immigrants who had committed crimes.
At one point, The King of Staten Island star asks again what they were looking for, to which one agent says, “Epstein files.”
Pete replied “Nope, we actually just released those to distract from this, you know, which is ironic because we did this to distract from those.”
Notably, there have been a number of fatal shootings in Minneapolis which the skit is referring to as well as a recent dump of over three million pages regarding the Epstein case.
Kenan Thompson is reportedly the highest paid member on Saturday Night Live.
