Kirsten Vangsness, best known for her role as quirky FBI tech analyst Penelope Garcia on Criminal Minds, is sharing fond memories from her time on the beloved series.
Vangsness has starred on the procedural since it premiered in 2005, later returning for the Paramount+ revival Criminal Minds: Evolution.
In an exclusive interview with People, Vangsness highlighted Tim Curry as her favorite guest star from the show’s long run.
Curry, famed for roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and other classics, portrayed serial killer Billy Flynn in Criminal Minds Seasons 5 and 6, one of his final major onscreen roles.
Moreover, Vangsness recounted a chance meeting at a gym where Curry approached her, saying he “worshipped at [her] throne” and expressed admiration for her performance.
After she mentioned his interest to producers, Curry was cast on the series, something she proudly takes “a little bit of credit” for.
Over her two decades with the franchise, Vangsness has worked alongside numerous guest stars, including James Van Der Beek, Jane Lynch and Evan Peters, but says Curry remains unforgettable.
As per the outlet, Vangsness originally joined Criminal Minds in a small recurring role before becoming a series staple and remains central to the Evolution revival alongside original cast members including A.J. Cook and Joe Mantegna.
