Margot Robbie made the headlines as soon as she was casted for the role of Catherine Earnshaw, being labelled misfit for being the character.
The 35-year-old actress made an appearance on the premiere of Wuthering Heights in a custom Schiaparelli couture, mermaid skirt.
On a red carpet interview with Deadline, Margot was asked about her favourite outfit from the movie which she might be excited for “the viewers to see.”
It appears that the Barbie star subtly responded to the ongoing backlash on the costumes from the upcoming film.
With a wide smile, the Hollywood A-list star noted that the lead character “Cathy wears over 50 costumes,” nodding and insisting: “There is a lot you haven’t seen.”
While the casting of her and Jacob in the lead is being debated, the movie faced scrutiny for dresses that do not match the vibe and are different from what the original book character wore.
A critic was of the opinion that the choice of gowns look “random,” pointing out: “A lot of costumes in period movies are not historically accurate but at least they make sense.”
Jacqueline Durran, the designer for the project, responded earlier about going for historical inaccuracy, sharing: “Our dates are all confused in time” and are “not representing a moment in time at all.”
