Kristen Stewart discussed what it was like being a director for the first time.

The Twilight star had her directorial debut in feature film Chronology of Water.

In an interview with Variety, the Love Lies Bleeding actress revealed that before any actress becomes a director, the Hollywood treats them like "sh—t."

However, talking about her shift in career, she said, "this is a different experience, they are talking to me like I’m suddenly with a brain."

The 35-year-old artists added that while the actresses "get treated like puppets" directors are seems to have “outwardly abilities.”

This is not the first time Stewart has spoken out about the experiences of women in industry.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, talking about male actors she said they are "aggrandized for retaining" self in their craft.

The Chronology of Water, follows Imogen Poots as Linda, a woman who reconciles with her traumatic past through competitive swimming and the written word.

In addition to Poots, Anna Wittowsky, Angelika Mihailova, Susannah Flood and few more.

The Chronology of Water, which premiered at Cannes 2025 before going wide in theatres on January 9.
