Masters of the Universe, originally created by Mattel, is getting a live action but the casting in lead roles has sparked a fierce debate amongst fans.
As the 1980 franchise became immensely popular, film’s trailer based on the original series was released on YouTube.
In the teaser, He-Man/ Prince of Adam is being portrayed by Nicholas Galitzine while Jared Leto plays his nemesis, Skeletor.
The online community shared their opinions on whether the Hollwyood stars fit the role well with one X user claiming they lost interest “as soon as I saw Jared Leto.”
Another netizen gushed that the 54-year-old actor as the Skeletor "will either be the greatest thing in cinema history or its entire demise.”
Meanwhile, an admirer was of the opinion that the Suicide Squad star “looks like 100% motion capture” as the first look gives a glimpse of the protagonist and antagonist engaging in a deadly fight.
According to the synopsis, a man from Earth “discovers a fabulous secret legacy as the prince of an alien planet” and embarks on a mission to save his “kingdom.”
The project is being directed by Travis Knight which stars Morena Baccarin, Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig and others.
Despite the ongoing debate about the accuracy of the film to the cartoon series, fans await for the release of the project which is all set to hit the theatres on June 5, 2026.
