As Bridgerton gears up for the launch of its highly anticipated Season 4, actor Luke Thompson is spotlighting what makes his character, Benedict Bridgerton, uniquely different from the series’ earlier romantic leads.

Thompson spoke with People at the Paris premiere, reflecting on the evolution of the Regency saga and Benedict’s central role in the upcoming storyline.

Unlike previous male protagonists, including Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey and Luke Newton, Benedict’s arc revolves around his struggle with commitment and emotional depth.

According to Thompson, while Benedict is adept at offering glimpses of himself to many, he finds it difficult to open up fully to one person. This internal conflict forms the heart of his journey in Season 4.

As per the outlet, the season, inspired by Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer From a Gentleman, follows Benedict as he becomes enamored with a mysterious “Lady in Silver” at a masquerade ball, later discovering she leads a very different life as Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha.

Moreover, their cross-class romance challenges Benedict to move beyond surface-level affection and explore deeper emotional commitment.

Thompson teased that audiences will witness Benedict balancing the allure of fairy-tale romance with the realities of true emotional vulnerability.

This blend of classic storytelling and character growth aims to offer a fresh perspective on love and identity in the beloved Netflix drama.

Bridgerton Season 4 premieres in two parts on Netflix, beginning Jan. 29 and concluding Feb. 26, 2026.
