Glee fans were left scratching their heads this week after actor Matthew Morrison went viral for an unusual slam poetry performance that many online described as unsettling and unintentionally comedic.

The 45-year-old star, best known for playing teacher Will Schuester on Fox’s hit musical series from 2009 to 2015, was captured in a fan-recorded video performing spoken-word poetry during what appears to be a preview of his solo stage show, Rhythms & Revelations.

The clip, shared on TikTok by a user named annalarissaaa, shows Morrison dressed in a formal suit, standing on a small stage backed by a live band.

As he delivers abstract lines such as “You bring your steps, your heart, your truth,” he punctuates the poetry with choreographed movements toward the microphone.

At one point, he dramatically drops the mic stand onto his foot, all while the audience remains notably silent.

According to Daily Mail, the moment quickly sparked reactions online, with one fan jokingly captioning the video, “nurse he’s out again.”

Others admitted the performance felt more alarming than amusing, with comments ranging from “Why is no one laughing?” to “This needs a jump scare warning.”

Adding fuel to the discourse were frequent comparisons to pop star Justin Timberlake.

Moreover, viewers dubbed Morrison “Justin Timberlake-coded,” with some jokingly referring to him as a bargain-bin version of the singer and revisiting old Glee trivia in the process.

The viral moment arrives nearly three years after Morrison’s departure from So You Think You Can Dance amid controversy, which he has previously denied wrongdoing in.

Despite the mixed reactions, Morrison is set to take Rhythms & Revelations to New York’s 54 Below this winter, with additional dates planned through spring 2026.
