Former NFL sideline reporter Michele Tafoya has announced her Minnesota Senate candidacy.
The 61-year-old was a sideline reporter for NBC Sunday Night Football between 2011 and 2022 and turned into a conservative commentator.
On Wednesday, Michelle declared her optimism about securing the Republican nomination for the Minnesota seat.
The position had been vacant after the retirement of Democratic Sen. Tina Smith.
Michele wrote in her statement that “For years, I covered the biggest football games in America.”
She took to her social media and posted a video that was a continuation of what she had previously said in her speech.
“I walked the sidelines when the pressure was mounting and the stakes were the highest. That job taught me about more than football. It taught me about how leadership really works.”
She continued, “Michele is the only candidate with the common-sense leadership Minnesotans are desperately craving.”
Republicans that may also be able to win the seat include former NBA player Royce White and military veterans Adam Schwarze and Tom Weiler.
Minnesota is no stranger to the news, as earlier in January, Renee Good was shot dead by an ICE agent, who had the support of Trump.
