Marcello Hernandez, who is making headlines with his newly released comedy special, American Boy, opened up about a major moment from its filming.

The SNL star, who filmed the show in his hometown in Miami, has credited Chris Rock for his guidance.

In an appearance on the Today show, the comedian revealed that when he told the Grown Ups star about his project, Rock called it a, "very bad idea."

Hernandez explained, the Madagascar actor advised him that, since he had recently ended Saturday Night Live season, he was out of practice and needed to work on his jokes before hitting the stage.

The upcoming Sherk 5 actor then immediately called his mother, agent, and crew members to push back the filming, "because Chris Rock told me."

Elsewhere in the interview, he also shared why the special is titled American Boy.

"Because I wanted to talk about all the stuff about my youth," he said.

Who is Marcello Hernandez?

Hernandez was born in a Lantix family and began performing stand-up comedy in New York City in his late-teens and early 20s.

His comedic style is majorly influenced by his Latin background. Hernandez than earned his breakthrough after becoming cast member of SNL in 2022.
