Stranger Things: One Last Adventure director Martina Radwan slammed fans over AI theories.
The hit sci-fi show, which came to its conclusion on December 31, released its behind the scenes documentary on January 12, sharing an insight into how one of the greatest original series came into being.
While the fans were excited to see what went behind the cameras, they also noticed some details that put the series in hot water.
Some eagle-eyed fans have accused the creators of show, Matt and Ross Duffer, of using AI tools in the script of the fifth and final season.
Following the accusations, the news became viral on internet, with the documentary's director now clarifying the issue.
"I mean, are we even sure they had ChatGPT open?" Radwan told The Hollywood Reporter when asked about the clip which allegedly showed Duffer Brothers having AI tabs open on their browser.
She added, "There’s a lot of chatter where [social media users] are like, 'We don’t really know, but we’re assuming.' But to me, it’s like, doesn’t everybody have it open, to just do quick research?"
Radwan further said that "nobody has actually proved it was open."
She explained, "That’s like having your iPhone next to your computer while you’re writing a story. We just use these tools … while multitasking. So there’s a lot going on all the time, every time."
On behalf of criticism that the creators received since the release of the documentary, Radwan continued, "What I find heart breaking is everybody loves the show, and suddenly we need to pick it apart."
She further clarified that there was no "unethical use of generative AI in the writers’ room," instead "witnessed creative exchange."
Radwan concluded by saying that "it was a true privilege and an absolute thrill" to spend a year on the show's set to make the documentary.
All five seasons of Stranger Things and One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 are now streaming on Netflix.
