NBC has shelved a scheduled episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit that featured guest star Timothy Busfield after the veteran actor and director was charged with child sexual abuse in New Mexico.
The network confirmed the episode originally set to air on January 15, titled Corrosive, will be replaced by a later instalment in the long-running series amid the emerging case.
Busfield, known for roles in The West Wing, Thirtysomething and Field of Dreams, faces an arrest warrant accusing him of two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse.
According to law enforcement filings, the alleged misconduct occurred between 2022 and 2024 on the set of the Fox television drama The Cleaning Lady, where he served as a director and executive producer.
As per Daily Mail, court documents reviewed by outlets indicate one of the alleged victims, a child actor who worked on the series with his twin brother, reported inappropriate touching that began when he was seven years old.
Moreover, the minors later told investigators that the contact continued and had contributed to emotional distress.
The investigation began after concerns were raised by medical staff in 2024, leading to a formal complaint and the issuance of the warrant in January 2026.
As authorities pursue Busfield’s arrest, NBC and Warner Bros. Television reiterated their commitment to safety and cooperation with law enforcement.
Furthermore, Busfield’s episode removal marks a rare network decision to distance itself from a production in which a featured performer is facing serious criminal allegations, underscoring industry sensitivity to conduct involving minors.
