Singer Stacie Orrico has sued her former manager claiming alleged sexual abuse multiple times as a child and the 39-year-old was not defended by the record executives.
On January 6, the Stuck singer sued Britt Ham in Los Angeles, charging the individual and the agency for negligence, childhood sexual abuse, sexual battery and gender violence.
As per Orrico, she had a nonconsensual relationship during the years with Universal Music Group, ForeFront Records as a minors custody.
The star stated, "The music industry failed to protect me when I was a little girl. It has taken me years to become strong enough."
However, the Strong Enough crooner noted that now she's ready to fight for every young and innocent person who has been, and continues to be, abused in the music industry and in the Church.
The copy of filing obtained by PEOPLE states that the alleged abuse threatened and changed the life of Orrico permanently and radically, in both his childhood and the entire life.
she is proceeding with the lawsuit, at this point, after years of therapy, to demand, responsibility, the abuse, exploitation as well as deep-seated damage she has endured.
I Promise singer stated that Ham first raped her in 2000 when she was just 14 and the mistreatment continued over the years, although she noticed the signs and reported it.
The trauma caused anxiety, depression and sudden termination of her music career.
Notably, Universal Music Group did not reply at once. The Genuine artist is demanding damages and an unspecified jury trial.
