Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, is expected to return to the United Kingdom later this month for the start of his High Court privacy case against the publisher Associated Newspapers Limited, but sources say he is unlikely to see his father, King Charles III, during the brief trip.
The trial, which centres on alleged unlawful information-gathering practices by the Daily Mail on Sunday, is scheduled to begin with opening arguments on January 19, with Harry set to be among the first witnesses called.
According to People, toyal insiders and legal commentators have indicated that a reunion between the estranged father and son is improbable at this visit, as Charles is expected to remain in Scotland and avoid any association with ongoing court proceedings.
As per the reports, the monarch does not wish to be publicly linked to private legal disputes involving his son, and the tight schedule of the visit, focused primarily on legal obligations, leaves little space for personal meetings.
Harry’s last in-person meeting with his father took place in September 2025 at Clarence House when the pair briefly reunited after a long period of estrangement.
Moreover, that meeting was seen as a cautious step toward reconciliation but did not lead to sustained contact in the months that followed.
As per the outlet, the duke has also been pushing for the reinstatement of full-time UK security protection, citing safety concerns as a major factor in his previous decisions not to bring his family on visits.
While there has been some movement on the security front, formal decisions are still pending.
