Noah Schnapp said goodbye to Winona Ryder on her final day of shooting Stranger Things.
The 21-year-old actor has portrayed the onscreen son of Ryder for almost a decade.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the star candidly shared, “I remember visiting her on set and just like, I couldn’t let her go."
He further recounted, "In that trailer, I was just like — I didn't expect to be so sad that she was done, but she really feels like she became my own mother."
"It meant the world that I got to spend this last season with her," Schnapp says of the Heathers star. "She's one of my favorite scene partners. I adore her."
He continued, "She just teaches me so much and allows me to kind of explore and try new things." adding, "I'm so grateful that I got to close it out with her."
Schnapp also emphasized that he was close to Millie Bobby Brown, stating that she was his best friend forever and a part of his family.
He noted that they had never had the opportunity to work together, so every time they were onscreen, he called it the best day of his life.
The fifth season of Stranger Things is currently being watched on Netflix.
