Ruth Gibbons, sister of the late Liam Payne, has shared a deeply emotional tribute after the family’s beloved dog, Brit, died at 13.
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Gibbons described the Labrador as “everyone’s best friend,” revealing the pet had been gifted to her by Payne following a BRIT Award win years earlier.
In her tribute, Gibbons posted a series of photos showing Brit with the family, including moments with Payne during happier times, and recounted how the dog had been a fixture through many milestones, from everyday life to Gibbons’s wedding.
She wrote that Brit was “the most perfect girl” and thanked the dog for being a part of her life, comfort, and celebrations.
According to Daily Mail, Brit’s passing comes amid continuing grief for the Payne family, nearly 15 months after the singer’s tragic death in October 2024.
Payne, who rose to global fame as a member of One Direction, died at age 31 after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.
Supporters and followers responded to Gibbons’s post with condolences, many expressing comfort in the thought that Brit and Payne may now be reunited.
In the same post, Gibbons also shared her sadness over the demolition of part of the school she and Payne once attended, a reminder of the many “tiny losses” felt since his passing.
