The final curtain has fallen on Stranger Things, and fans are seriously divided over how Netflix’s biggest sci-fi hit chose to say goodbye.
After nearly a decade of Demogorgons, D&D and deadly trips to the Upside Down, the show’s two-hour finale finally revealed whether Eleven and the Hawkins gang could defeat Vecna once and for all.
And while some viewers were left in tears, others weren’t quite convinced it stuck the landing.
Critics have been quick to weigh in.
The Telegraph praised the ending as an emotional gut-punch, calling it a farewell that “actually justifies the hype” after years of disappointing TV finales.
The Independent focused less on monsters and more on meaning, hailing the series as a coming-of-age story that will shape a generation, even if the sci-fi got a bit messy along the way.
Elsewhere, reactions were more cautious.
GamesRadar admitted the finale was chaotic but heartfelt, saying it may not be a “perfect 20” but still rolled the right dice emotionally.
Cinema Express described it as a “bittersweet goodbye”, applauding its character payoffs and much-needed closure.
However, not everyone was satisfied.
The Washington Post questioned the show’s tangled mythology, while The Standard argued the danger never truly felt real, with problems solved a little too neatly.
Stranger Things has ended exactly as it lived, loudly, nostalgically, and with fans arguing long into the night.
