Sadie Sink has revealed the song that still deeply affects her whenever she hears it and fans say it leaves them feeling the same.
The 22-year-old actress said hearing Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill, the track forever linked to her breakout Stranger Things role as Max Mayfield, continues to bring back powerful memories.
She became inseparable from the 1985 classic after it soundtracked Max’s dramatic escape from Vecna in season four, but Sadie insists she’s not sick of the track, even after its global resurgence.
Speaking to SFX magazine, she revealed the song now carries huge emotional weight.
“I’m still able to listen to it,” she said.
“I don’t voluntarily play it in my free time, but it’s such a hit and such a good song. I’m not tired of it — it just brings up these big feelings because it’s so connected to the show.”
In the upcoming fifth season, Max remains in a coma, with her on-screen boyfriend Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLoughlin) trying to reach her by playing Running Up That Hill once again.
Sadie admitted revisiting the moment felt surreal.
“I remember thinking, ‘Are we really doing this again?’” she said, explaining she was back in the same outfit she wore at 17 now aged 22, standing once more in the eerie red void.
Although the circumstances are darker this time, Sadie says the emotional bond between Max and Lucas remains strong.
She also confessed she missed acting alongside Caleb, calling the experience “really sad” without her familiar co-stars around her.
For fans, it’s clear Running Up That Hill isn’t just a song anymore, it’s the sound of Max’s story.
