Timothée Chalamet has revealed a heart-wrenching detail from his time filming the latest sports drama, Marty Supreme.

The 30-year-old actor admitted that he had to rely on real prescription glasses, which left him feeling “pretty dizzy” on set.

Timothée, who plays a bespectacled ping pong prodigy, was forced to wear contact lenses that distorted his vision so he could feel fully dependent on his glasses.

Director Josh Safdie told a Los Angeles panel: “We were going to put +10 contact lenses in your eyes and -10 prescription lenses in front of them, so when his glasses fall off, he can’t see s***… He calls me, and he says: ‘I’ve got the +10s in right now, I’m pretty dizzy.’”

Despite the disorienting setup, the Wonka star trained for months to play ping pong like a pro, even filming alongside some of the sport’s real-life champions.

Cinematographer Darius Khondji hinted that audiences won’t recognise the usual romantic lead, adding: “The movie is about everything but ping pong.”

Meanwhile, Gwyneth Paltrow, who plays a married woman entangled with the Dune star’s character, revealed to Vanity Fair that there’s plenty of steamy action on screen.

Notably, Paltrow praised Chalamet’s professionalism, calling him “a very polite, properly raised kid.”
