Perry Bamonte, known for his work as English guitarist and keyboardist for rock band The Cure, has passed away at age 65, on December 25.

The famous British band made the announcement of their alum's demise along with a tribute in a statement released on their official website on Friday.

The statement read, "It is with enormous sadness that we confirm the death of our great friend and bandmate Perry Bamonte, who passed away after a short illness at home over Christmas."

The website continued, "Quiet, intense, intuitive, constant and hugely creative, ‘Teddy’ was a warm-hearted and vital part of The Cure story."

On the final note, the group concluded by paying an emotional tribute, saying, "Our thoughts and condolences are with all his family. He will be greatly missed."

The late keyboard player and guitarist, whose full name was Perry Archangelo Bamonte, was born in London on September 3, 1960.

He joined the band in 1990 after serving as Roger O’Donnell’s guitar technician.

Additionally, Bamonte departed from the group in 2005 to join Love Amongst Ruin alongside former members of Placebo and Julian Cope’s band.

Notably, earlier Perry Bamonte was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Cure in 2019 and reprised the band again in 2022.
