Will Arnett has hit back at rumours claiming he shares a tense post-divorce relationship with ex-wife Amy Poehler.
The 54-year-old Hollywood heartthrob opened up in a candid interview with Rolling Stone, insisting that most gossip about their relationship is completely made up and absolutely hilarious.
“People think that they know what the relationship is like… it’s f---ing hilarious to me how much s--- is just made up,” he said, reflecting on years of speculation about their split.
For the unversed, Arnett and Poehler were married for nine years before separating in 2012, with their divorce finalised in 2016.
Together, they share two sons, Archie, 16, and Abel, 14.
The BoJack Horseman actor revealed that despite what the tabloids suggest, he and the 54-year-old actress speak regularly and enjoy a close, cooperative co-parenting relationship.
Their rapport even extended to a surprise appearance by the Mean Girls actress on Arnett’s Smartless podcast earlier this year.
He revealed that the only surprising part was that their children had managed to keep it a secret, and he joked about it.
Bateman, Arnett’s co-host, praised the duo for their healthy dynamic, noting, “You could do a one-hour podcast in front of millions of people and not have to fake anything."
Twisted Metal actor agreed, adding that he often seeks SNL star’s advice on life and work.
Both stars are now happily moving on as Poehler dating Joel Lovell and Arnett seeing supermodel Carolyn Murphy.
