Pop icon Justin Bieber has called Ahmed Al-Ahmed a “hero” for tackling the shooter at Bondi Beach.
A severe tragedy struck Australia when two shooters shot people at the Bondi Beach on Sunday, December 14.
The footage of the Syrian immigrant tackling and disarming the younger shooter, Naveed, soon went viral as he recieved praise for his bravery.
On Tuesday, during a livestream on Twitch, Justin called the man “hero”.
Speaking of the incident, the singer said “The story, it’s just crazy.”
He added “That guy is a hero though, the guy who disarmed him [one of the shooters]. It’s crazy, did you see the video?!”
The Baby singer went on to explain the incident to his friends.
“He disarms the guy with the gun on the beach!”, Justin said.
Ahmed, the Syrian-born tobacconist owner, was injured while disarming Naveed.
After his act of heroism, he was taken to hospital at St George Hospital, where he is being treated.
The 43-year-old was shot in the shoulder when he went to confont the shooter.
The shooting incidennt resulted in 16 deaths and 26 injured.
