Chris Hemsworth shares emotional story behind his fame

Chris Hemsworth has revealed that his journey to Hollywood superstardom began with what he calls an “absolute obsession” with acting during his childhood.

The 42-year-old Thor star, now one of the highest-paid actors in the world, opened up on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast about how acting became his escape long before fame and fortune followed. 

Once the idea took hold, Chris said there was no turning back.

“Once I locked into the idea that I was going to become an actor, it was an absolute obsession,” he shared. 

Admitting he was unaware of just how tough the industry could be, the Extraction actor said his determination was fuelled by naivety and a need to escape. 

“There was no doubt that was what I was going to do… I guess it was sort of an escapism.”

Fast-forward to today, and Chris is not only living his dream but also earning high praise from his co-stars. 

In 2024, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga actress Anya Taylor-Joy described him as “the most wonderful” person to work with.

Anya, who plays Imperator Furiosa, revealed their off-screen relationship couldn’t be more different from their intense on-screen rivalry. 

The Avengers actor returned the praise, applauding Anya’s passion and creative instincts, calling their collaboration inspiring. 

The mutual respect and creative energy, he said, made the experience unforgettable, proving that his childhood obsession has evolved into a career built on talent, teamwork, and heart.
