Gwyneth Paltrow says she’s feeling a mix of pride, nerves, and motherly protectiveness.

Unfortunately, Paltrow's worst dream came true as daughter Apple Martin stepped into the spotlight and landed straight into the internet’s line of fire.

The 20-year-old made her surprise Nashville debut in October, performing her single Satellites with her college friends and indie duo Jade Street.

What should’ve been a low-key moment instantly went viral, sparking a fresh round of “nepo baby” commentary online.

“It’s crazy because she was just singing with a college band,” Paltrow told Access Hollywood. “Because she’s her, it went all over the news.”

The Goop founder admitted she always knew her kids would benefit from certain opportunities due to their talent, exposure, and upbringing.

At the same time, she is equally aware that fame brings a whole different set of complications.

“As a mother, I’m very realistic about the road ahead,” she said. The Iron Man star emphasised the fact that she is proud of her children.

Apple is working toward a degree in law, history, and society at Vanderbilt, while her younger brother Moses performed with his band People I’ve Met on tour last summer.

Apple has acknowledged her privilege before, telling The Telegraph that she knows where she comes from but has been raised to work for every accomplishment.

Paltrow, who famously entered Hollywood through her own family connections, says she dislikes the “nepo baby” label altogether and hopes her kids won’t feel boxed in by it.

All she wants is for them to follow whatever path makes them happy, regardless of public judgment.
