Vin Diesel reveals deep bond with Sir Michael Caine

Vin Diesel has opened up about the extraordinary bond he shares with Sir Michael Caine, and how the British film legend helped him rebuild his life when he was at his lowest.

The 58-year-old Fast & Furious star posted a heartfelt message on Instagram after honouring Caine, 92, with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Red Sea Film Festival.

He explained he waited until Caine and his family were safely back in London before sharing the post, which offered fans a rare glimpse into their private friendship.

Diesel revealed that when they first met, he was struggling under the weight of fame and had no idea how to cope. 

The Dark Knight actor, he said, taught him “grace” and gave him the strength to stand confidently in his own light.

The actor grew emotional as he reflected on losing Paul Walker in 2013, describing the grief as something he “was not ready to face.” But Caine quietly stepped in.

“You were there… not with words, but with purpose,” the F9 star wrote, adding that their film The Last Witch Hunter became his personal “resurrection.”

He recalled visiting Caine’s home and noticing the walls were filled only with family photos, a lesson, he said, in what truly matters. 

And in one powerful memory, Interstellar star introduced him as his “son” in a room of Hollywood icons.

Closing the tribute, Diesel wrote: “We’re just two kids from nothing who became something. I love you. Forever.”

Why is Michael Caine called Sir?

Michael Caine is called “Sir” because he was honoured by the British monarchy for his contributions to film. 

He was first made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 1992. 

Eight years later, in 2000, Queen Elizabeth II officially knighted him for his outstanding work in cinema. 

Over the years, Caine has also been married twice.
