Fans of The Handmaid’s Tale have gotten a delight ahead of christmas: the first look at its highly anticipated sequel, The Testaments, has been unveiled.

The new series, set to premiere in April 2026, is based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel of the same name and takes place years after the events of the original show, deep in the oppressive world of Gilead.

According to the official logline, The Testaments is a coming-of-age story following a new generation of young women who have only ever known life in Gilead.

With no memory of the outside world, these women face a future of arranged marriages and servitude, forcing them to seek allies, both new and familiar, in a fight for freedom and the lives they deserve.

The ensemble cast includes Ann Dowd, Chase Infiniti, Lucy Halliday, Rowan Blanchard, Mattea Conforti, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, and Birva Pandya.

Series creator Bruce Miller returns as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss, Steve Stark, Shana Stein, Maya Goldsmith, and others. Mike Barker will direct the first three episodes under MGM Television.

The Handmaid’s Tale, based on Atwood’s 1985 novel, premiered on Hulu in 2017 and ran for six acclaimed seasons, concluding earlier this year.

With The Testaments, fans can expect a fresh, intense chapter in Gilead’s dark, dystopian world.

Let's go through few of the first look images.
