Prince Harry’s surprise appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert quickly turned chaotic, and more than a little cringe, after the Duke of Sussex’s jokes prompted the studio audience to playfully boo him.
Although Harry walked onstage to a standing ovation and cheers, the vibe shifted when he launched into a series of pantomime-style one-liners.
At one point he claimed America is "obsessed with royalty" before taking aim at the US President.
Mocking Donald Trump, Harry joked that the US had "elected a king", prompting dramatic, theatrical boos from the crowd.
The appearance became even more surreal as Harry joined Colbert for a Hallmark-style Christmas sketch, pitching himself as the perfect festive movie star.
In another moment that instantly grabbed headlines, Harry revealed he has watched The Crown, responding to Colbert’s question with: "There’s people laughing at that – yes, I have actually watched The Crown."
Pressed on which seasons he’d seen, he added: "The older stuff and the more recent stuff."
When Colbert jokingly asked whether he fact-checks the show, Harry mimed taking notes and laughed: "Yes, I do actually."
