With the wrap of Emily in Paris Season 4, Lily Collins moved to Rome to explore new phases in her work and love life.
But as Netflix released a new trailer for the hit rom-com series, fans are curious whether Emily, played by Collins, will return to Paris.
For context, the career-driven, charming heroine moved to Rome after taking a new job at an Agence Grateau office.
The decision was driven by a romantic relationship with her new Italian client, Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), and a professional opportunity to work with a quiet luxury fashion house in Italy.
Emily hopes for a fresh start in a new country after her breakup with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), who is now pursuing her in Italy.
But the real question is: will she go back to France for Gabriel and, more importantly, to the heart of this show?
Fans have their theories. “At this rate, she’s never going back home,” a user wrote on X, referring to her rapidly changing love life, adding, “My good sis has a man in every city.”
However, show creator Darren Star previously revealed in a Netflix explainer that, despite Emily’s presence in Rome, “it doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris.”
Meanwhile, regarding her love life, Collins was especially eager to explore Emily’s dynamic with Marcello.
“Marcello brings a whole new adventure for Emily,” she explained. “Ultimately, we want her to find a healthier work-life balance. We want to see her smile freely, beyond the vacation vibes, and he shows up at just the right moment.”
So, we can safely say that Emily will be in both Paris and Rome in the new season. As the creator said, “This season is a tale of two cities: Rome and Paris.”
