Blackbear has just released new music with a nod to the princess of pop, Britney Spears, but there is a twist.
The Do Re Mi hit maker titled his song, Britney in 07, which was a not-so-glamorous year for the Toxic singer.
In 2007, the mother-of-two’s personal mental health struggles had spilled out in public, with the infamous moments including her shaving her head, attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella ad also being involved in a hit and run.
Blackbear explained the release of the song to media outlets, clarifying that the song is not intended as a mockery but a symbol of resilience.
Although he has explained the release, many internet users have called out the title and cover to be in bad taste.
One internet user wrote on X, “just weird as hell. can we let her rest idk why she needs constant reminders of the literal worst time of her life it’s weird.”
Another added, “Yet another man making light of what Britney went through… we are so tired of it.”
A third chimed in, “trying to capitalize off a woman’s breakdown oh he’s such a man."
A fourth penned, “Bless his heart, but honey, no. Some things are sacred pain, not song hooks. That poor child Britney deserved privacy then and dignity now. This just ain’t it.”
Briteny Spears’ prior mental health struggles, erratic social media posts and past conservatorship battle have all led fans to be very concerned about her well-being.
