Katy Perry’s lawsuit seeking upwards of a million from an 85-year-old over her Montecito Mansion became an eyebrow raising moment on the internet, but netizens are actually celebrating the singer’s win for a surprising reason.
The Firework singer sought millions in damages from the disabled veteran, Carl Westcott, in regards to her $15M house purchase, which he later attempted to reverse.
After a judge ruled in favour of the mother-of-one, internet users took to the internet to discuss how the narrative was being framed in a way that makes the man look much more wholesome than he actually is.
The gist of the case being presented online misses some important aspects, such as the man being a wealthy entrepreneur.
“That ‘poor dying veteran’ is a multimillionaire who sold her a $15 million home and his family tried to intervene with all kinds of excuses including that ‘he made the deal on painkillers,’” one netizen wrote on X.
Another wrote, “So dude tries to scam her and the headlines gotta add ‘85-year-old disabled veteran’ to generate controversy? Yall are the f***ing worst fr.”
A third added under another outlet’s breaking of the story, “the smear campaign is kicking off again and it’s soooo clear.”
No, Katy and Orlando are not married and have broken up, but the singer was previously married to Russell Brand.
