Jonathan Bailey brings shocking twist to 'Wicked: For Good' premiere

Jonathan Bailey had Sydney in a frenzy this weekend when he made a surprise appearance at a sold-out screening of Wicked: For Good. 

The 37-year-old British actor, freshly crowned PEOPLE’s 2025 Sexiest Man Alive, walked onto the IMAX stage to rapturous screams.

Notably, the radio host Kent “Smallzy” Small teased, “Could it be one of the stars of Wicked: For Good?” Bailey waved and grinned, clearly loving the reception.

“I’ve just landed in Aus’,” he joked, thrilled to be back. 

“I’ve missed it so much, so I wanted to return to the real land of Oz… and thought, why not end the press tour where we started?” 

He also revealed that his family was in town and that he’d already pulled off a cheeky surprise at another screening.

Bailey, best known for his fan-favourite role as Fiyero, the prince caught in a love triangle with Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), has been enjoying a whirlwind of excitement following his Bridgerton fame. 

His co-stars couldn’t resist celebrating his new title, with the 32-year-old singer reposting his PEOPLE cover and Erivo cheekily declaring, “Now the world knows what I’ve known all along.”

The cast even created a fun video, donning sweatshirts with Bailey’s SMA photos, where Bowen Yang awarded him the “looks best in a singlet while doing gymnastics” crown.
