Eddie Murphy, known as a legendary comedian, has made an admission that has left his fans furious.
The 64-year-old actor, who shot to fame on Saturday Night Live in the 1980s, has revealed he was fuming after losing the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Dreamgirls.
While speaking in Netflix’s Being Eddie, he revealed it wasn’t losing that got to him, it was having to get all dressed up and make the trip to the ceremony.
“Not winning the Oscar or not winning anything is not the mindf*** for me,” Eddie confessed.
“The mindf*** for me is that I get dressed and come to the thing, 'cause I would usually not go to award shows… These m************ made me come all the way down.”
The Nutty Professor actor, who lost to Little Miss Sunshine star Alan Arkin, insisted he’s never motivated by trophies.
He even joked about the idea of receiving an Oscar late in life, saying he would make a memorable entrance in a sky-blue tuxedo and cause a scene during his acceptance speech.
The Coming to America star, known for his irreverent humour, has proven that even without the golden statue, he remains one of Hollywood’s most unapologetically hilarious actors.
Eddie Murphy has spent his life reshaping stand-up comedy and opening doors for Black leading actors in Hollywood, yet he has never won an Oscar.
