Ariana Grande’s Wicked costar Marissa Bode is speaking out after the viral incident at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good.

Bode, who plays Nessarose Thropp in the two-part Wicked movies, took to social media to address the incident where she highlighted the “fan” of Wicked or of Grande, who hauled at the pop singer.

Sharing multiple TikTok videos on Thursday, Nov. 13, Bode addressed social media users defending the man, Johnson Wen, known online as “Pyjama Man.”

“‘But they're a fan!’ Okay. Then they're a fan and a loser,” she said, responding to claims that his actions were harmless.

Bode explained that she has long discussed “parasociality,” noting that fans sometimes disrupt concerts or events in unsafe ways.

“This is what I mean when I say social media brings out the worst in people,” she added. “You made somebody feel incredibly unsafe, but just, no remorse. That goes over your head. You're a bad person.”

The Singapore court charged Wen with being a public nuisance on Friday, Nov. 14, following multiple incidents in which he leapt on stage at celebrity events.

Bode emphasized that victims shouldn’t be expected to respond gracefully: “Most of the time women within the public eye do respond with kindness because they know what the result is going to be if they don't.”

Her message is a stark reminder about respecting personal boundaries, both online and in real life.
