Frank Grillo is excited to make his comeback playing a major role in the latest ‘Superman: Man of Tomorrow.’
Frank Grillo believes his character as Rick Flag Sr. in the upcoming Superman sequel will greatly impact the plot.
“My character, Rick Flag Sr., is a big part of the sequel’s story, so I’m excited about it,” the star said, expressing his feelings to THR.
Frank's character was seen for the first time in DC’s animated show, Creature Commandos, followed by his introduction to Suicide Squad, where he was determined to get revenge from John Cena’s character for the murder of his son, Rick Flag.
It is important to clarify that 'Man of Tomorrow' is not a direct sequel to 'Superman' 2025. Director James Gunn cleared the confusion raised in a question asked by a social media user.
"This is the same movie. Superman has a major role. It's not 'Superman 2,'" he previously wrote on Threads.
He further clarified on the topic during his interview with EW, saying, "What I'm working on is in some way…I mean, yes, yes, yes, yes. But is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily."
Superman 2025 was released in July this year. The film managed to collect $600 million globally at the box office, earning the honours of being a major blockbuster of the DC universe.
'Man of Tomorrow' production is about to be wrapped up, and the movie is scheduled to be released in cinemas on July 9, 2027.
