Dave Burgess, who was notable for being the lead voice of The Champs and their hit Tequila, passed away at the age of 90.
The sad passing of the musician was confirmed in his obituary, announcing his death a month ago which is October 19.
He was the lead of the band from “late 50s through the mid-60s,” which rose to fame with their 1958 song that was penned down by his bandmate Chuck Rio, the saxophonist.
It caught the attention of many due to its unique instrumental and shouted title despite being one of the first releases of the group.
While the melody and Train To Nowhere were dropped in January 1958, but it gain popularity after it became part of DJ set list.
Soon after, it ranked on the top of the Billboard pop charts, becoming a top-selling and highest charting single for five weeks.
In 1960, the band decided to create a track with similar name but it failed to gain similar fame amongst the music lovers.
Tim Burton’s Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure featured the song with the titular character, played by Paul Reubens, jamming to it.
Fans were shocked to hear the news as one of the X users penned down: “Rest in peace to an absolute legend, thanks for the timeless music.”
Another was of the opinion that “a remarkable life ended,” calling him “a true magical legend.”
