Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have donated $50,000 through their Archewell Foundation to Masaka Kids Africana, the Ugandan children's dance troupe at the heart of their upcoming Netflix documentary.
The donation, made on November 12 via GoFundMe, comes just as Netflix dropped the first trailer for Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within, premiering December 9.
Produced by Archewell Productions, the documentary highlights the inspiring community behind the group's viral dance videos, which were clips Harry and Meghan began watching with their son Archie during the pandemic.
According to the film’s logline, the story takes viewers “beyond the viral videos” and into the Masaka region, where children orphaned by the HIV/AIDS crisis have built a vibrant creative community rooted in joy and resilience.
A spokesperson previously shared that the Sussexes were longtime fans before the project came to them in 2023.
The donation also marks the couple’s expanded multi-year first-look deal with Netflix, part of a new direction following the reported shift away from their earlier $100M contract.
Meghan’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan has already returned for season two, with a holiday special landing December 3, while Masaka Kids: A Rhythm Within hits Netflix on December 9.
