Demi Lovato’s husband Jutes confesses being ‘toxic’

Demi Lovato’s husband, Jordan Lutes, expresses thoughts about the darker side of young love.

The 34-year-old musician just dropped his latest single It Takes Two along with a powerful music video, reflecting his “intensely emotional” teenage self.

Speaking to PEOPLE, the singer, who is also known as Jutes, admitted his song idea is based on a time when his idea of love was anything but healthy.

“It Takes Two feels more like how I used to be maybe a little bit toxic,” he said. “I was very desperately in love and not super in tune with my emotions like, ‘If you leave, I’ll die.’”

However, now married to Lovato since May, Jutes says he’s finally found peace.

“I’ve grown up a lot. I’m in such a healthy place right now in my marriage. There’s literally zero toxicity,” he shared.

The singer went on to say that " It Takes Two will appear on the extended version of his latest project ‘Dilworth’, named after a street in Canada where he spent his childhood.

“It touches on so many emotions and things I went through when I was younger,” he said. “I often pull from my younger days to get those really intense concepts.”

The musician says his latest track represents his journey from heartbreak and chaos to calm and clarity, with Lovato's love and support on his side.
