KPop Demon Hunters, also known as the major hit animated movie, is officially getting a sequel, and its release date has been confirmed.

Netflix’s Korean animated film, directed by Maggie Kang and co-directed by Chris Appelhans, has been loved by audiences of all ages.

The movie’s soundtrack, featuring songs such as Soda Pop, TAKEDOWN, How It's Done, Your Idol, and Golden, also known as the ‘perfect all-kill’,  topped charts and played a key role in the film’s success.

According to sources, the sequel to the movie, which was originally released on August 23, 2025, has been confirmed and is expected to hit screens sometime in 2029.

The story follows the girl group HUNTR/X as they protect their fans, whose souls are at risk because of demons pretending to be the famous boy group SAJA Boys.

Fans are now wondering whether the writers of the upcoming movie will continue the same storyline with major plot developments or opt for an entirely new story and characters.

Co-director Chris Appelhans previously hinted at the creative possibilities of animation, saying, “The joy of animation is how far you can push and elevate what’s possible.”

It is also noted that the movie is currently competing with BLACKPINK’s Rosé and other artists for K-pop’s first Grammy.
